#98 I understood what a “summer dream” means.

Going to the gym today won’t change anything. Going to the gym the next day again won’t change anything either. Clearly there are no results. What do you do? You quit! Or if you believe it is the right course of action and stick to the routine, you may someday come back from the gym, look into the mirror and see something different. If you believe in something, you commit yourself to the service. Surely there will be days when you will screw up, there is always a room for screwups when one is consistent and committed to something. It is not about intensity, but about consistency. If you want to be a good runner, try running consistently everyday instead of sprinting for a few minutes on some days. Everyday, checkoff that routine until it’s so automatic that you don’t even have to think about it. One of the key reasons why we fail to develop this habit of consistency is resistance. Resistance is the most toxic force on the planet. It is the root of more unhappiness than poverty and diseases. If you want to be good at something - the first step is to overcome the resistance that is stopping you from starting it in the first place. If you overcome resistance, the path to consistency is a walk in the park.
Pictures speak a thousand words. But if they could really speak, would they have stopped at a thousand words? I bet NO! A few weeks ago, I was fortunate to visit the lustrous snowy mountains in the city of Big Bear. As someone who was born, raised and lived in a large suburban city in Northern India, which remains hot during most part of the year, I never looked forward to summers. It was only when I visited the snow packed mountains of the Big Bear, I understood what a “summer dream” meant.
Well, you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
We only appreciate the warmth of our skin when we are exposed to the bitter cold. The extreme conditions make you appreciate the little things: a good weather day, the chance to go on a trek, clicking pictures without worrying about your hands freezing cold. There’s value in even the tiniest of pleasures. While driving the car on a road loaded with snow, the car tire often tends to slip and the car goes into the direction one doesn't want. In order to keep the control, the driver reflexively turns the steering in the opposite direction, the direction where he wants to go, and not the direction where the car is slipping. But what happens in this process is that the car loses control and goes for a spin. Such is life. Sometimes we are stuck in a situation where we can’t really do much, and in hope of keeping control, we try to run away from our problems. However, It is better to face the heat with a determined face, learn from the mistakes in order to perform better in the future. When there's despair, worry or stress, there's always a ray of light just around the corner.
See you next week. Have a great weekend :)
Cheers!
