#85 You don't need everything to enjoy life

Lately I have been thinking deeply about one question. Exactly a year ago, I wrote a blog on Why cheating matters and the basis of empathy. It’s been more than one year and I am yet to form any opinion on the incidents of cheating. This is one of those situations in which I can only listen to one - my heart or the brain. The logical brain begs me to confront the cheaters, make sure they get punished according to the rules. While the emotional heart cannot fathom their terrible state after they are caught and punished. While no one wants to be the nerd who complains about cheating and doesn’t mind their own business, trust me, no one either wants to land themselves in a position where their silence on the matter is affecting them. In situations like these, whom do you listen to the most? Your heart or your brain?
This story would definitely crack you up and it is specifically for the people reading in India. There have been several complaints of bicycle wheels(yes, you read that right!) getting stolen in and around the campus. Some smart ass thought of an innovative way to lock his (yes I am sure he’s a male) bicycle by unbolting the front tire and locking everything - front tyre, back tyre and the chassis together.
Result? Following the footsteps of this smart ass, everyone started locking their bicycles the same way. While most of us would think of it as a happy ending, the thief had other plans in mind. He came up with something else - Steal everything except the tire :)
I have always heard people around me talking about how difficult a student life is when they live thousands of miles away from their families in a new country about which they have only read in books. Why? Because a student is supposed to do EVERYTHING themselves. And EVERYTHING here implies COOKING FOOD.
Unpopular opinion: The unpopular opinion, which is also my opinion, does not believe in this standard template of “life is tough“. Should cooking for yourself everyday, taking your own responsibility translate to “a tough life”? No, right? Is taking care of yourself too much to ask from oneself? You don’t need a cooked meal, a driver to drive you around, someone to wash your clothes, someone to clean your home. You don’t need everything to enjoy life, you already have life to enjoy everything.
On that note…
See you next Saturday, have a great weekend:)
