100 is a pretty impressive number, especially since it's one more than 99. I mean, just think about it, 99 was the largest two digit number for so long and then 100 came along and showed it who's the boss. If not anything else, the 100th blog post definitely means a lot of words and punctuation marks. And of course improved typing speed adds the icing to the cake. With each post, I've honed my craft and become a better version of myself. And if I do say so myself, I'm pretty proud of this accomplishment. This calls for some celebration because what's the point of all of this if we can't enjoy it? So let's raise a glass (of coffee, because who needs sleep?) to 100 more posts and all the enchanting tales that are yet to come.
Last week I was reading an article written by Arnold Schwarzenegg and there’s this line that stuck in my head and I have been thinking about it since then. He wrote and I quote, ”You can find your current limit, but you will never find your actual limit”. I think this is the harsh reality of life. Limits are completely made up and all in our heads. It is us who define our limits. People who keep challenging their limits climb up while the other mortal remains are stuck in this vicious cycle of limits. You might think your limit right now is to read one book a month, burn 100 calories on the treadmill, speak one language, work 8 hours a day and what not! I believe these thoughts are the real barriers. Whatever you think your “limit” is, get that idea out of your head. Remember what James Clear said in his book. If you get one percent better each day for one year, you'll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you're done. A simple law of compounding to redefine the limits. The idea is to challenge yourself until you become so good at what you do that your work spreads like a silent fart.
Having talked about limits and casted 100 spells of magic from my keyboard, I think it’s a good time to push myself and try out something new. I have been a big fan of science fiction since the time I first read Dan Brown and oh god after reading his books I truly believe today’s fiction is tomorrow’s science. I have always wanted to write science fiction myself, putting the creative bee in my mind to its much deserved nest. And I think this is the right time to push the limits and write one now. Right now while writing this blog all I have in my mind is the topic and I will spend the rest of the year developing the characters to justify a story around that topic. I think it is an important part of the process to put your goals out in the public to keep a check on your progress otherwise we get soft on ourselves, softer than a baby’s bum and procrastinate until the goal looks like a giant piece of impossible feat.
See you next week with a pinch of humor.
Have a great weekend:)
Cheers!
